Some day, the company for which I work will buy another company which actually employed writers to write their documentation. We recently bought a small company near Toledo, Ohio that makes a certain type of microelectronic device, and I got my first look at their documentation today. It's terrible. Of course, it's now my job to rewrite it. I'd rather throw it away and start over.
Some time in the next couple of weeks I need to go over to the company there and talk with the people who did write the documentation, and I'll probably have a hard time concealing my disdain. None of these people seem to know what a sentence is.
They asked me when I wanted to fly out of O'Hare, and I told them I was going to drive over. Toledo's airport is tiny and the flights that go there are usually badly-scheduled. I looked it up, and it's faster for me to just get in the car and drive across Indiana than to take a cab up to O'Hare, wait around, fly to Toledo, rent a car, drive to this place, and then do it all backwards.
I'm really catching up with writing these things. I'll try not to get as far behind again.
Fargo misses your comments when you don't leave them.
