I woke up today with an incredible earache. I have had earaches in the past, but this was something else again. Picture someone putting a large drill bit into a cordless drill, sticking it into your ear, and turning it on, as low as it will turn.
Then, picture leaving it there all day. And then smack the handle once in a while just to keep things interesting.
That was my day today. I wasn't going to work. I called Maureen, who drove me over to the Jewel to fill the prescription they gave me yesterday, and it was everything I could do to answer the clerk's questions, pay the co-pay and get back to the car. I took the stuff and waited for something to happen.
They had said that I could take a non-aspirin with the antibiotics (if you're really curious, I'll go check what it is), and after going through a half a handful of Advil, the pain finally calmed down enough to let me get up and make something to eat and feed Fargo. Fargo was attentive all day, walking all over me and sniffing my lips to make sure I was still alive. He does that whenever I'm in bed in the middle of the day.
About two hours ago, about 10:00, the pain fell off enough to think about writing. There's a swelling of a sort behind my right ear, and it's getting a little hard to chew anything... the joint in my jaw hurts.
Isn't this pleasant to hear?
My mother would have been practical about this. My mother would have gone and gotten the prescription filled last night, so that it could take care of the infection faster. My mother would be pretty good to have around right now.
