It's late, but I have my laptop back. I had forgotten how much work it was to set it up the first time, but was reminded when I of course had to do it all over again. Remember, the thing came with Windows 95 on it, and I had to reinstall Windows NT and reinstall all of my software. I had copied all the files onto Zip disks, but the reinstallation was tedious.

It was worthwhile. I've now done it twice and could do it again if I had to. The keyboard on this new machine feels a little different from the other one, which had always felt a little slow. This one is just fine.

I've gotten to be very reliant on this little gray thing very, very quickly. Last night I actually wrote things on paper again, and spent time with Fargo that didn't involve asking him not to walk all over the keyboard.

I waited for the new machine to be delivered today, and was a few minutes late to rehearsal. Nothing major to report. Daniel said that he wants to record our rehearsal Tuesday night so that we can compare it to some future session. I seriously doubt that anyone will take much of an interest in actually listening to that recording. We're not exactly the Grateful Dead.

The topic of names came up. Many small ensembles have names -- you may have heard of the Juillard Quartet or the Empire Brass Quintet. We have no name. We have no inspiration for names. In the end, we aren't really all that worried about it.
