I've been really lazy about updating this. There are a lot of things I've wanted to put up, mostly images, and I still have not gotten around to it. The main thing is that I really hate having to upload images and files with Tripod's tools rather than FTP. FTP hasn't been working right... it sort of connects but never gives me a directory, and then gives up and shows an error.
I got some email today from another person from UM who I remember meeting in a class once. They apparently did a web search and came across some of the things I put up about Minneapolis and UM and things. I guess she then read the things I wrote last weekend. She said hi and told me that things at UM are pretty much the same as always. Looking at the buildings from outside doesn't tell you much about what's happening inside.
I got an email from our personnel person today. She said that in another few weeks I'll be able to join their 401k retirement plan. I probably will, if only to lower my taxes this year. I already know I'll have to pay more than a little on what I made last year. Not on the investment stuff -- that's all taken care of, and a lot of that is in tax-free funds and things anyway, but on what I made writing. Taxes for me have always been a pain. Working a normal job may make things a lot simpler, if not cheaper.
I already have to clean the kitten fur out of the keyboard on the laptop. Fargo's fur gets in there because of all the static. I took a paperclip and ran it up and down between the rows of keys, extracting a little tuft of hair on every pass. I think he sleeps on the keyboard when I'm at work, because I leave it open and plugged in so that the battery charges up.
