I did Chicago Things
today. I was off work, and spent the day going all over the city. I went up the Sears Tower. I visited the Old Water Tower, the one building that survived the Chicago Fire in 1871. And I went out and watched people fish. There were actually people out on a pier that sticks out into Lake Michigan, fishing.I sat down on a bench way out at the end in the late afternoon, just watching the lake. Watched old black men fish. The lights started appearing all the way along the lake shore, from Gary all the way up to Evanston. I sat there and watched them start to come on, and then eventually got up and walked back to where the Mercedes-Benz was parked and went home.
My mother fished. My father sometimes did, too, but more often, my mother.
